Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo

No fewer than 16 inmates were granted pardon by the  Chief Judge of Osun State, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, at both Ilesa and Ile-Ife prisons respectively yesterday. Justice Ojo was at the prisons as part of activities marking the commencement of 2014/15 legal year in the state. Also nine inmates were set free from Ilesa prison  while seven were equally set free from Ile-Ife prison respectively.
The inmates that were set free are in three categories: Category ‘A’ involve those who have spent four years and above, Category ‘B’ are those granted pardon on health grounds, while Category ‘C’ are those of old age (60 years and above).
Their offenses ranged from armed robbery and murder, to stealing, felony and other offences. The Chief Judge stressed  that those pardoned have been denied trial long enough and they cannot be kept in the prison custody indefinitely.
