Indications have emerged that the National Judicial Institute NJI the training institute for judges is currently passing through some strange developments following alleged financial fraud. The Daily Times gathered that the development has led to the transfer of two senior accountants out of Abuja.

One of the senior accountants was reportedly transferred to Kano State Division of the High Court while the other was transferred to the Sharia court in Abuja. The transfer of these accountants (names withheld) by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen, who heads the governing council board of the institute were part of measures adopted to re-position the institute.

A reliable source who confided in The Daily Times also disclosed that the two accountants were sighted at the premises of the Institute in a very moody state discussing the development in hush tunes. He said, “I got the information of their transfer on Monday evening. The Chief accountant is going to Kano State High Court, while the other one is going to the Sharia Court here in Abuja.

” We are very happy with the development because this will really bring peace for us. They were part of the problem we had here. At least the place will move forward with this development”. Meanwhile, our correspondent has also gathered that the Administrator of the NJI, Justice Rosaline Bozimo, is bowing out office on August 1, 2017.

The source, who confided the development to our correspondent, added that Bozimo is already compiling her handover notes. He further disclosed that the directors meeting of the Board of Governing Council headed by the CJN will be held on August 18, 2017, to deliberate on who will emerge as Bozimo’s successor.

It was further gathered that Justice Bozimo since assumption of office in 2011 after she took over from Justice Umaru Eri, has never implemented any new project. When contacted over the issue, the spokesman for the NJI, Mr Emezie Madu, told our correspondent that he was not aware of any fraud as he insisted that the institute is being governed in line with the Act that set it up.
