Cynthia Osokogu: Judge threatens to withdraw defendant’s bail

Justice Olabisi Akinlade of a Lagos High Court sitting at Igbosere yesterday threatened to revoke the bail granted to the fourth defendant, Nonso Ezike in the on going murder trial of Cynthia Osokogu over delay tactics by his counsel, C. J Ajakona.

The judge, who was very furious with the defendant’s lawyer, said she would send the defendant back to prison if at the next adjourned date nothing was filed before the court.

She said:  “I tell you at the next adjourned date if nothing is filed I will revoke your bail and send you back to prison by then your lawyer will know what to do.

“It is because you have been on bail that is why your lawyer is wasting the time of the court.  It is a delibrate act, the court is already on vacation and I left my comfort home thinking that the case will go on today, only for my time to be wasted.”

At the resuming hearing of the matter yesterday, which was slated for the adoption of no case submission of the third and fourth defendants the matter suffered a set back because of the  absence of the fourth defendant‘s counsel.
