Correctional Service retires 25 officers, dismisses nine others

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has penalised 34 senior personnel for alleged indiscipline and misconduct, The Nation learnt yesterday.

It also dismissed nine officers and retired 25 others compulsorily for what it called offences that are inimical to standard practices.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the service, Umar Abubakar, told reporters in Abuja that four other personnel were issued letters of warning.

Abubakar quoted NCoS Controller General Haliru Nababa as saying the decision was approved by the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Board.

Nababa said the service would not relent in taking disciplinary measures against any personnel who does not measure up to the Standard Operating Procedure of the service.

While the CG warned that there would be no room for indolence and acts of indiscipline in the NCoS, he assured the nation that those who performed creditably would be rewarded in line with the rules of engagement of the service.
