The Supreme Court has dismissed the two appeals filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last governorship election in Benue State, Uba Titus, seeking to void the victory of Governor Hyacinth Alia of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

A five-member panel of the apex court, presided over by Justice John Okoro, said issues raised in the appeals do not qualify as post-election matters.

The court prevailed on the lawyer to the PDP and Titus, Sebastine Hon (SAN) to withdraw the first appeal, which he did, following which the court dismissed it.

Justice Okoro held that, as agreed by parties, the order of dismissal in relation to the first appeal, marked: SC/CV/1162/2023 shall apply to the second, marked: SC/CV/1164/2023.

The proceedings were witnessed by Governor Alia and his Deputy, Samuel Ode, and some other politicians from Benue state
