Eleven ferry boats have been dispatched for rescue operation in Wara where over one hundred and fifty persons were missing after an overloaded boat capsized in River Niger.
Chairman, Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency, Sani Dododo told our correspondent that rescue operation is ongoing and effort to recovered victims is been supported by local divers.
According to him, the data of recovered corpse has not been harmonised and any information in public space may not be accurate.
Meanwhile sources in Wara town told our correspondent that over thirty corpses have been recovered and by noon funeral prayers will be held for mass burial.
Meanwhile, former Sokoto state governor and Senator Representing Sokoto North Senatorial District Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko has condoled with the people and government of Kebbi State over the sad development.
The Senator in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant of Media and Public Bashir Mani bemoaned the recurrence of such obnoxious and fatal incidents in Sokoto, Kebbi and Niger States, as well as other parts of the country, usually resulting in heavy casualties.
He prayed for the safe recovery of the yet to be found victims, as well as the speedy recovery of those already salvaged.
