A VALEDICTORY court session to honour the immediate past Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Ayotunde Philips, holds on September 23 at the State High Court Foyer, Igbosere, Lagos.
Chief Registrar of Lagos State High Court, Mrs I. Akinkugbe made the disclosure in a statement announcing the commencement of the new legal year.
It will be recalled that the court has been on vacation since July 16, 2014, during which time Justice Olajumoke Atilade succeed her blood sister (Ayotunde) as the Chief Judge of the state.
Ayotunde occupied the position until her retirement on July 26, 2014, when she attained the statutory retirement age of 65 years.
The 62-year-old Atilade is the 15th Chief Judge of the Lagos State and the fifth female to occupy the position. She was called to the bar 38 years ago and will oversee the administration of the Lagos State judiciary till the next three years.
In a statement by the spokesperson for the Lagos State Judiciary, Mrs Grace Alo, the legal year service will hold at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina and the Central Mosque respectively on Monday September 22, 2014.
Other activities lined up for the new legal year include a stakeholders summit on Child Right Law/Domestic Violence Law at the City Hall on Thursday 25, 2014.
