Two men — Kenneth George and Godwin Oriamaja – have been arraigned at the Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court for allegedly demanding for arms and ammunition from an ex-militant.

George, 32, and Oriamaja, 23, who are resident of Yenagoa, Bayelsa, appeared on a two-count charge of conspiracy and manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

The duo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Kehinde Olatunde, insisted that the duo committed the offences on July 1, at Ikorodu.

He told the court that the accused had placed a call through to an ex- militant, Pere Agbala, who was the complainant, and demanded that he supplied them with arms and ammunition for an operation.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 168(d) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised) and punishable under same.

The Magistrate, Mrs. A.S. Okubule, granted the duo bail in the sum of N200,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned till October 5, for mention.
