Tribunal rules on Kogi Assembly petition Oct 24

The Elections Petition Tribunal hearing a case filed against the declaration of Elder. Abayomi Obaro of All Progressives Congress, APC, by Commodore Michael Folusho Daniel (retd.) of Accord Party as the House of Assembly member representing Mopamuro constituency has reserved ruling till October 24, 2015.

After the adoption of submissions by both parties yesterday, chairman of the panel, Justice Ikpeme fixed October 24, 2015, for the final determination of the case.

Daniel is challenging the eligibility of Elder Obaro to contest the election, having failed to comply with the basic guidelines of the Electoral Act on primary and the guidelines of his party.

The retired Naval officer is contending that the results of the primary submitted to INEC to clear the former council chairman was forged, claiming that no primary was held by the party to nominate its candidates.

The determination of the case between Prince Yomi Kolawole of the PDP and Mr. Ralph Ademife of the APC in Kabba/Bunu has reinforced the confidence of Daniel to win the case.

He said he was at the tribunal to prove both legal and moral points.
