Adams Rotimi (42), popularly known as Shaba, suspected to have led the attack on Edo State House of Assembly Legislators’ Quarters was on Wednesday arraigned before an Oredo Magistrate’s Court on a four-count charge.

The accused was alleged to have, on October 11, 2014, conspired with others now at large to commit felony, willful damaged to government property/threatening violence, an offence punishable under section 516 of the Criminal Code cap 48, Volume 11, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo state.

He was also accused of unlawful and willful damaged of 27 cars of various brands, glass windows and walls of houses belonging to Edo state, contrary to section 451 of the Criminal Code of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo state.

Furthermore, Rotimi was alleged to have discharged fire arms at residents and vehicles at the legislators’ quarter with an intent to harm the occupants, an offence punishable under section 86 (2) of the criminal code of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo State.

Besides, he was charged with  unlawful possession of 38 live cartridges, an offence punishable under section 88 (1)(A) of the Criminal code of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria 1976 as applicable in Edo State.

The accused person pleaded not guilty after the charges were read to him.

The presiding Magistrate, Mofe Adebanjo, adjourned the case to November 17 after granting bail of N200,000 and one surety in like sum with a landed property in Benin City to the accused person.

Recall that 22 persons were earlier arrested and charged to court October 17 in connection with the attacked on the Edo State House of Assembly legislators’ quarters.
