Osinbajo, CJN, others to Honour Justice Kayode Eso

Barely five years after his death major stakeholders in the nation’s justice administration will tomorrow throng Sheraton Hotel, Lagos to honour one of Nigeria’s erudite Justices of the Supreme Court, the late Justice Kayode Eso at a book launch.

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will lead members of the Bar and the Bench to the august event, which would usher in the launch of an 850-page compendium in honour of the erudite judge who passed on in 2012.

Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, Professor Ademola Popoola, who reviewed the book, former Vice President Atiku Abubarka, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Awujale of Ijebu-Ode, Oba Sikiru Adetona, Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi among many personalities expected at the book launch.

The book; entitled ‘Justice Kayode Eso: Beacon of Judicial Activism, which would give an insight into the life and times of Justice Eso, would be presented to the public as his admirers both at the Bar, the Bench and the business world would reflect on his contribution to the nation’s development of law and jurisprudence.

The book launch would also unmask the late Justice Kayode Eso’s many “judicial mysteries, honours and achievements in his career while alive, including ‘analytical and dynamic reflections on the larger society towards promoting national growth and greatness using the beautiful years of the law practice of Eso the Law as a case study.”

Besides, a number of awards would be ditched out to distinguished stakeholders in justice administration. Leading the packs is Acting President Osinbajo, whose immense contribution to justice system in Lagos state while holding sway as Justice Commissioner and Attorney-General would be recognized with an award of excellence. Justice Eso’s contemporary at the Supreme Court, the late Justice Chukwudifu Akune Oputa, fondly called the Socrates of the Supreme Court would bag a post humous award.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be presented with distinguished awards of excellence following their contributions at different periods to the nation’s jurisprudence.

However, the compendium book authored by four lawyers– Dauda Ajadosu, Ayodele Temitope Justice, Arigbabuwo Lateef and Odunlami Oluwaseun and supported by a journalist, Ranti Thomas would be launched by Africa richest man and Chief Executive Oficer Dangote group of companies, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
