Oil Deal: EFCC Blocks Omokore’s Request for Medical Trip

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC yesterday told an Abuja Federal High Court not to grant application by the managing director of Atlantic Energy Drilling Ltd, Jide Omokore to embark on medical trip to Dubai.

Omokore is standing trial over alleged breach of Strategic Alliance Agreement with the Federal Government.

EFCC counsel, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) while opposing Omokore’s application to travel, said reports with the commission indicate that the defendant might still be wanted in the United Arab Emirate over other off-shore activities.

But defence counsel, Lawal Rabana (SAN) asked the court to discountenance the submission because there is no investigation pending against Omokore outside the country.

In his ruling, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba refused Omokore’s application. He however granted Briggs application for the release of his international passport.
