Former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe

A former Minister of Works and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party has criticised an ex-Minister of State for Defence and governorship aspirant in the party, Musiliu Obanikoro, for questioning the party on the conduct of the state governorship primary.

Ogunlewe described the ex-minister’s action as an act of indiscipline.

Obanikoro had dragged the PDP before a Federal High Court in Abuja over the conduct of the state governorship primary which produced Jimi Agbaje as the winner.

The former minister had on Friday said he could not understand how the number of votes (863) could exceed the number of accredited delegates (806).

Obanikoro alleged that the PDP leaders in Lagos, Chief Bode George and Ogunlewe, used religion to advance the candidature of Mr. Jimi Agbaje, who won the primary.

He described both George and Ogunlewe as the masterminds of the “fraudulent” primary.

However, while speaking on a Channels Television’s breakfast show, Sunrise, on Saturday, which was monitored by SUNDAY PUNCH, Ogunlewe said the internal working of the party was not yet for the public, especially on the selection of candidate.

He said, “It is indiscipline to query the party; it is indiscipline. You dare not! It is not that they (other aspirants) didn’t grumble but it is controlled because they believed in the supremacy of the party. That is what obtains everywhere in the world.”
