Mortgage scam: Subscriber drags firm to court

A home subscriber, Mr. Abraham Omokanye, has dragged a real estate firm, Gran Imperio Group, before a Lagos High Court, sitting at Igbosere, Lagos, over alleged attempt to defraud him of N4.036 million, through mortgage scam.

Joined as co-defendants in the suit are Metropole Interproject Limited, and the managing director of Gran Imperio Group, Mr. Adeyeye Ogunwusi.

Omokanye, in the suit number LD/267CMW/2015, is seeking a court order directing the defendants severally and individually to pay him by certified bank Durant the sum of N6, 397,852.50, with interest at the rate of 35 percent per annum before judgment and 19 percent per annum from judgement, until judgment is liquidated.

At the resumed hearing of the suit yesterday, the claimant’s counsel Chukwuemeka Amaghiro, informed the court that the matter was for hearing of all pending applications in the suit.

The defendants’ counsel Mr. Olanrewaju Jolaoso, also informed the court that his clients are making steps to settle the matter out of court and then urged the court for a short adjournment.                                          Consequently, Justice A. J. Coker, adjourned the Matter till June 30, for report of settlement.
