Executive Secretary of Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Fola Arthur-Worrey, yesterday called for continuation of the Coroner Inquest investigating the collapse of a guest house within the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, on September 12, which claimed 116 lives.
His call came against the backdrop of an e-mail purportedly sent by Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, which threatened an imminent attack at the venue, Ikeja High Court.
Speaking with Vanguard on the alleged threat by the Niger Delta militant group to attack the Coroner Court, Arthur-Worrey urged the police and other security agencies to take appropriate steps in securing lives and property at the court.
He said: “We must not allow anybody to have impression that he is above the law, whether presidents visit him or not. This is a local issue, it is about local planning. The process at the coroner inquest is bound by the law, even Jesus said give unto Caesar what is Caesar’s.
“The process should continue. We must not as a country be governed by threats. We must be governed by the rule of law.”
