The social scene at the ongoing NBA Annual General Conference will reach fever pitch today as the Local Organising Committee is set to unveil its eagerly awaited “AGC Beach Party” at the Oniru Private Beach.

The beach side is the customized venue of the AGC Conference Market Place (CMP), popularly called “Mammy Market.”

The Beach Party which kicks off today at 6 pm “is designed as a basket-load of fun-filled activities including performances by hip hop and cultural dance groups among others,” a member of the LOC said yesterday.

The event will be kicked off by the sensational 911 Dance Machine “which is set to electrify the beach side with hair-rising and neck-breaking hip hop dance moves.”

The youth group was the cynosure of all eyes at the recent NBA Lagos Branch “Young Lawyers gig” which formed part of the branch 2017 Law Week.

A sign of the things to come was witnessed yesterday as the live-in DJ set the beach side ablaze with hot and trending hip hop tunes, to the admiration of many conferees who trouped to the beach to unwind over exquisite cuisine and chilled drinks after the day’s intellectual feast.

“This is fun at an entirely new level,” the LOC member assured. “Eko for show is not a mere expression. We plan to bring down the roof in a manner that no conferee will forget in a hurry. It’s a loaded and fun package that will run for the next three days. Do not leave home without your dancing shoes!”

The beach side is now littered with a potpourri of caterers, bars and exhibitors who are set to offer their services to the partying crowd.

With the influx of exhibitors who were dislodged from the illegal market into the Mammy Market, the market is set to witness an explosion of activities today.

It is recalled that a speculator had set up an illegal ‘mammy market’ within the conference area, thereby distorting the entire conference Conference architecture and leading to a fierce face-off with the LOC which lasted throughout yesterday.

Though the speculator had approached the LOC for some stalls, he later changed his mind and opted to go it alone by acquiring a private property to set up the illegal market in a no-trading zone and without government permit.

The LOC however shut down the market yesterday with assistance from the Lagos State Task Force, even as a mop-up exercise commences this morning.

Meanwhile, the Legal Materials Dealers Association last night struck a deal with the LOC to relocate to the Mammy Market, even as the management of Landmark Event Centre acceded to a request by the LOC leadership to open up the back gate of the centre to ease conferees’ access to the Mammy Market.
