REAL estate is one terrain one cannot dabble into without understanding issues that bother on laws.

Olivia Ihemeson, founding director at Chinonso Ihemeson and Co., a legal firm based in Lagos, advised that operators should seek counsel from legal professionals.

She noted that she had always given qualitative legal information and education to those who seek her advisory services, especially real estate entrepreneurs.

Ihemeson said she had been practising general law for the last 25 years but made inroads into real estate business in 2010.

“I came from a humble background and had no business dreaming to become a lawyer but society made it possible.

‘’As a lawyer, I have been involved in cases from fee paying to pro bono, because I have a responsibility to give back to the society,’’ she said.

“As a legal expert with experience in property law, I assist clients to source for and sell properties…

‘’As a real estate lawyer, we conduct due diligence for clients. We do documents and title verification. We educate and advise clients on development trends. For example, where to buy, what kind of apartment to build, facilities to incorporate to make apartment marketable among others,” she said.
