Kayode Olusegun Bello has filed contempt proceeding against the Council of Legal Education and the Inspector General of Police. This is based on the refusal of the Council of Legal Education to obey a court order permitting him [Bello] to write the Bar Final Examination.

According to the Notice made available to TheNigerialawyer on Thursday; form 48 was filed against the Council of Legal education at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

The notice read ” Take notice that unless you obey the directives contained in this order, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison”.

Recall that the Federal High Court in Abuja had on August, 9th issued an order, following the ex-parte motion filled by Kayode Bello’s lawyer challenging his expulsion by the authorities of the Nigerian Law School.
TheNigerialawyer, further gathered, that he was not allowed to enter the school campus on Friday even though the institution had been served with the court order.

“I went to the campus on Friday to start my registration but I was not allowed to enter,” he said.

“The security officer said I should call the CSO. The CSO picked my call but disconnected immediately he heard my voice. I called back a number of times, but he would not pick my calls anymore.”

The law student said that he also sent text messages to the secretary of Council of Legal Education and the Chief Security officer but his messages went unacknowledged.

TheNigerianlawyer also called and sent text to the DG of Law school to get their side of story but no reply yet from him.
