Kano Legal Aid Council receives 127 cases in 3 months – official

The Coordinator of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria in Kano State, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, said the council received 127 cases from May to July.

Umar told newsmen on Wednesday in Kano that out of the 127 cases, 114 were on criminal issues while 13 civil.

He also said that the council resolved one civil case and 28 criminal cases, while others were still pending in the courts.

Umar said that some of the complainants, however, preferred to resolve their cases out of court.

The coordinator said that the council offered free services and advice to those who could not afford to pay for such services.

He explained that most of the civil cases were on inheritance, marriage, debt recovery and land disputes.
