The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Nasarawa State, yesterday, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to allow the counsel representing the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, Labaran Maku to inspect all INEC election materials.
Maku, who is challenging the victory of Governor Umaru Al-makura, alleged that Al-makura concocted the result of the April election using security agents and INEC to rig the election.
The order came following an application by Maku, seeking leave to inspect all INEC election materials used in all the 13 local government areas and 1,495 polling units of the state.
In a short ruling, Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Halima Mohammed granted the order to the APGA candidate and its counsel Michael Okwori to inspect all INEC forms EC8A, EC8B, EC8C, EC8D, EC8E in all the 1495 polling units of the state and local government areas.
Justices Halima also instructed INEC to allow the APGA candidate to inspect the list of all registered voters, list of all INEC ad hoc staff, list of all Permanent Voters Card collected per ward per polling unit, list of all card readers and other relevant documents used by INEC for the election for the purpose of maintaining the petition pending before the tribunal.
