Activities at Igbosere Magistrate’s Court were, yesterday afternoon, paralyzed as Court 13 in the building was gutted by fire after an air conditioner in the courtroom sparked a fire, which extended to a cabinet in the courtroom.

The incident was said to have occurred 20 minutes after the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade, and her entourage paid a courtesy visit to the court.

Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, who paid a courtesy visit to the court said other courts in the building were not affected and that nothing got burnt, adding that other courts will resume tomorrow.

“What we need to do is just to clean up the court and fire fighter’s powder that was used to put out the fire,” Ipaye said.
