Members of the Nigeria Bar Association, Nasarawa State chapter have been charged to ensure speedy trial of cases in the state.

The state Chief Judge, Justice Umaru Suleiman Dikko, gave the task at the call over session of Keffi appeals.

Justice Dikko explained that the appeals session could only succeed if the members of the bar cooperate with bench.

He said, “I am calling on all my colleagues and litigant to be committed during the sitting of the appeals in order to expose the cases in time.”

While responding to some complaints raised by the chairman of the Keffi branch of the NBA, Barrister Erich Iyerbude, the state Chief Judge, Justice Dikko however affirmed that all the complaints particularly issuance of receipt for filing on cases would be addressed.

Justice Dikko who applauded the efforts of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JSUN, for scaling judgment on the financial autonomy of the judiciary, charged the NBA to join in the struggle to ensure the implementation of court order.

Earlier, the state Solicitor General and permanent secretary, ministry of Justice, Barrister Abigai Waya who was represented by barrister Yayaha Yakubu Ede urged all the counsel to be committed in order to ensure speeding trial of the appeals.

In an address, the chairman NBA Keffi branch, Barrister Erich Iyerbude represented by secretary of the association, John Chinchi made a case for the inclusion of members in some activities of state judiciary as well as assure of their support for succeed of the appeals.

Dikko has constituted six appeals panel to preside over the cases. Panel one would be headed by the state Chief Judge, Justice Dikko and Justice Samuel Ayiwulu.

While panel two and three would be shared by Justices John Dikko, Asimawo Yusuf, Aisha Muhammed Ahmed and Danjuma Oyigbednu, respectively.

Similarly, Justices James Ogboduga, Daniel Ade, Samuel Aboki, Haruna Ofor, Audu Bako and Rose Joge would take charge of panel four, five and six.

The six appeals panel inaugurated by the state Chief Judge, Justice Dikko would preside over 127 cases out of which 106 are civil while 21 are criminals matter.
