The Ekiti State Government has re-opened murder cases against the state Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Jide Awe, and a member of the House of Assembly, Mr. Kehinde Boluwade, and others charged to court for various murder cases.

The Special Assistant, Legal Matters to the Governor, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, disclosed this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti on Monday.

This is just as some unidentified persons burgled Owoseni’s office at the Ministry of Justice, State Secretariat, Ado-Ekiti, in the early hours of Monday.

Owoseni, who is the new Justice Commissioner, said the state government had revoked the nolle prosequi earlier entered in the cases by the former administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

Awe and three others were dragged to court for the murder of Mr. Ayo Jeje and Mrs. Juliana Adewumi in Erijiyan-Ekiti on March 31, 2013.

Also, Boluwade and four others were also charged to court for the murder of Mr. Foluso Ogundare in Emure-Ekiti on November 3, 2013.

Only last week, Sefiu Owonifari and Awolope Busuyi were remanded in prison by Magistrate Modupe Afeniforo, over the Erijiyan-Ekiti case.

Awe was last year granted administrative bail before the Fayemi’s administration filed a notice to discontinue the case.

Ajayi said the state had issued a bench warrant for the arrest of those facing the murder charges.

Ajayi assured that justice would be done in the cases.
