Ekiti State House of Assembly has approved the request of the state governor, Mr Ayo Fayose to access the N2 billion Central Bank Business Loan.

In a unanimously decision the House asked the state government to join other states of the federation to access N2 billion out of the N220 billion Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEs, Development Fund initiated by the apex bank.

Some of the contributors to the motion included, Mr Churchill Adedipe (Majority Leader), Mrs. Omowunmi Ogunlola(Ijero constituency) and Mr Alex Ojo (Ekiti South West 11), noted that accessing the loan would aid the economic development of the state.

The lawmakers noted that such development would improve the standard of living of the entire residents of the state.

Subsequently,the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for its approval and seconded by Mr Tope Agidi which the House unanimously approved.

But the House failed to deliberate on the motion seeking members’ approval for the constitution of Local Government Caretaker Committees’ Chairmen and members as being sought by the state governor, Mr  Ayo Fayose.

However, chairman House Committee on Legal Matters and Local Government Affairs, Mr Adedeji Odu called the attention of members to a Court document (Writ of Summon) on a case instituted by aggrieved 35 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs, Caretaker Chairmen.

The governor had in his letters sought the House approval of the State to participate in the Central Bank N220 billion Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development Fund.

Other requests were: the approval of three Commissioner nominees, Mr Owoseni Ajayi as Attorney-General, Mr Kayode Oso as Commissioner for Transport and Chief Toyin Ojo as Commissioner for Finance while the last request bothered on constitution of LGAs Transition Committees.

The assembly later adjourned sitting till Wednesday, Nov. 12
