Former member representing Lafia/Obi federal constituency,  Dr. Joseph Kigbu, has accused the Nasarawa state government of using state resources to procure judgment for the APC candidate, Alhaji Abubakar Sarki Dahiru at the Appeal Court.

The Makurdi division of the Federal Court of Appeal had recently upturned the national assembly election tribunal judgment which Dr. Kigbu of the PDP was declared winner and in its stead the appeal court declared Sarki Dahiru of APC as winner.

Addressing his supporters in Lafia,  the former federal lawmaker who represented the constituency from 2011 – 2015 said the high and mighty in this society had chosen to oppress him and his teeming supporters by collecting what belonged to them, describing the scenario as a fraudulent miscarriage of justice in the Appeal Court.

He, however, said that the battle was not over as he was seeking relief at the federal high court of justice in Jos, Plateau state, to the fact that his opponent in the APC, Sarki Dahiru, is a fraudulent Nigerian parading himself with fake certificates.

“He has cheated all the way through; from secondary school to polytechnic and up to today he is busy cheating in order to either be in civil service or public office,” he alleged.

According to him, “As a patriotic Nigerian, I think it is only proper for me to try to correct the ills perpetrated by this citizen of Nigeria so that we would have credible leaders, we would have credible representatives in the parliament.

“So we have approached the court, having investigated and found out that he did not merit to even have a diploma and yet he has portrayed barrage of certificates from diploma, HND to masters and even as chattered accountant. Now these certificates were obtained fraudulently and we think that the law should correct it and if he is convicted, he should leave that office for a better citizen of these country that will represent the people properly.”

In his reaction, the state secretary of APC, Alh. Aliyu Bello, said his party and the APC-led government in the state believed in the rule of law and had confidence in the judiciary and would not influence the judgement of the court.

He said when the same tribunal upturned the victory of its senator, Hussei  Egyebola and handed it to Sen. Suleiman Adokwe of the PDP,  the APC did accuse the anyone on compromise.

The party scribe dismissed the allegation as baseless and unfortunate,  saying the judgement of the appeal court reflected the true wishes of voters in Lafia/Obi federal constituency.
