LEADER of Biafra Zionist Federation, BZF, Mr. Benjamin Onwuka, and eleven other members of the group, who have been in detention at the police headquarters, Abuja, over four months ago, will be formally arraigned before the Federal High Court, Enugu, this Thursday.
The detained members of the Biafra Zionist Federation had yesterday approached Federal High Court 2, Enugu, presided over by Justice D.V. Agishi, for enforcement of their fundamental human rights, having been detained since they were arrested four months ago without trial.
In the suit numbered FHC/EN//157/2014, BENJAMIN ONWUKA (Leader of the Movement) & 11 others, versus The Inspector General of Police & Another, the applicants maintained that members of Biafra Zionist Federation, BZF, which “is a peaceful movement for the liberation of Biafrans, are all presently detained at Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.”
Lead counsel, Mr. Olu Omotayo, who appeared for the applicants, informed the court of the urgent need to either release the applicants or charge them to court forthwith as they had been in incarceration in an isolated cell at the Police headquarters, Abuja, for over four months.
