A Federal High Court in Abuja has stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from using the results of the ward congresses conducted in Taraba State on November 1, for the purpose of fielding candidates for the 2015 general election.

Justice Adeniyi Ademola granted the order via an ex-parte application filed and argued by Chief Kanu Agabi, (SAN) on behalf of the six members of the PDP in Taraba State.

The plaintiffs are Senator Joel I Kenya, Hon. Sale Habu, Ali Janya Samuel, Hon. Isaac Solomon, Julde Garba and Absolom Simon.

They sued for themselves and on behalf of all the delegates returned on  November 1 at the PDP ward congresses held in Taraba State.

Justice Ademola, who had earlier granted a similar order in favour of Umana Umana of Akwa Ibom State, also restrained the PDP from conducting any other ward congresses in the state for the purpose of fielding candidates for the 2015 general election.

The orders were made in the interim and pending the determination of another application on notice for interlocutory injunction.

Listed as defendants in the suit are PDP, its National Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, the National Secretary of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court also ordered that the order the other processes be served on the legal department of the party.

Further hearing was adjourned to November 24.
