A Federal High Court, sitting in Bauchi, has granted an interim injunction, restraining the Bauchi State Government or his agents from further seizing the property of officials of the immediate past administration in the state.

Justice Mohammed Umar, who presided over the sitting, ruled that both parties should maintain the status quo pending the determination of the motion on notice.

By this ruling of the court, the committee set up by the state government to recover assets and property from officials of the immediate past government has been restrained from causing, molesting, intimidating or threatening the  applicants  in the name of recovering state property allegedly looted by officials of the past administration.

The court adjoined the case till September 21, 2015 for hearing of the substantive suit.

Thirty-five officials of the immediate past administration had, on June 29, 2015, gone to the court, asking it to restrain the recovery committee from further seizing their property and in the process, arresting and detaining them.

The motion was filed on their behalf by the former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General in the state, Barrister Mukhtar Abubakar.

The suit was supported by an application of 52 paragraph affidavit by the former Commissioner in the state, Sani Muhammed Burra.

Speaking to Journalists after the ruling, Counsel for the plaintiff, Okechukwu Nwaeze, expressed satisfaction with the ruling which asked both parties to maintain status quo.
