Charles Anthony (Lawyers) LLP is a full service independent law Firm founded in 2007, by Charles Adeogun-Phillips, following a distinguished and decade-long career as an international prosecutor and senior UN lawyer.

Charles founded Charles Anthony LLP in November 2007, following a distinguished and highly rewarding legal career within the United Nations Organisation, which spanned over 12 years. He is an accomplished international lawyer and prosecutor who has practiced on the international criminal litigation circuit for well over a decade. In March 2001, he was appointed senior trial attorney and lead prosecuting counsel at the United Nations International Tribunal for Rwanda, where he led for over a decade and with great success, teams of international criminal lawyers in the prosecution of those who bore the greatest responsibility for the 1994 Rwandan genocide during which, an estimated 800,000 civilians were killed.

During his tenure at the UN, Charles was involved in historic and ground-breaking legal work in what was soon to become, the fastest growing and emerging area of public international law, cumulating in his citation in the maiden edition of “who’s who of public international law”. He has to date, completed twelve complex international criminal trials before an international court, ten of which he led successfully as lead counsel. He is admitted to practice as lead counsel before several international and regional courts and including the International Criminal Court, Special Tribunal for Lebanon and the African Court on Human and People’s Rights in Tanzania. Prior to his UN career, he trained and practiced with several leading law firms in Lagos and London where he gained experience in various practice areas.
