The Chief Justice of Nigeria CJN Justice Walter Onnoghen on Friday charged Judges and the entire judiciary workers to prepare for likely challenges that would be associated with the proposed reforms in the nation’s judiciary.

The CJN had revealed that a comprehensive reform that would address adequately and clear all the rots in the judicial system of the country would soon be unfolded by the Judiciary under his watch.

He added that the sweeping reform when implemented would make the Judiciary in the country one of the best in the world.

The CJN, who stated this while receiving the final report of the 13-man steering committee put in place to undertake a holistic review of the operations of the country’s judiciary system, stated that the time has come to make the system work perfectly for the nation in the Judiciary arm of the government.

Justice Onnoghen however challenged all the judicial officers and the entire judiciary workers across the country to brace up for the challenges that would be posed by the coming reform.

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the CJN on Media, Justice Onnoghen commended the reform committee headed by the Secretary of the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC) Mrs. Bilikisu Bashir, for a detailed recommendation on the reform and assured that the report would be implemented in such a way that it would salvage the judicial system.

He noted that the 13 members were carefully chosen for the reform exercise because they are the engine room of the federal judiciary.

“This committee is a very crucial in the history of Nigeria’s Judiciary when this chapter in that history will be written. We have to thank God for making us part and parcel of that chapter in the history of the Nigerian Judiciary.

“You were carefully chosen for the assignment basically because you are the engine room of the federal judiciary.
