Babalakin

Two firms belonging to Dr. Wale Babalakin (SAN), Stabilini Vision Limited and Bi-Courtney Limited yesterday urged a Lagos High Court, Ikeja to dismiss the criminal charges brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The companies through their counsel, Wale Akoni (SAN) and Roland Otaro (SAN) urged the court to dismiss the charges against them because they were defective.

Babalakin (SAN), the managing director, Renix Nigeria Limited, Alex Okoh, the two companies and Renix Nigeria Limited are standing trial before justice Lawal-Akapo on alleged N4.7 billion fraud brought against them by the commission .

The EFCC alleged that Babalakin and his co-defendants allegedly assisted convicted former Delta State governor, James Ibori to transfer huge sums of money through various parties to Erin Aviation account in Mauritius for the purchase of a plane.

At the resumed hearing Monday, Akoni while adopting an argument earlier canvassed by Babalakin’s lawyer, Dr. Biodun Layonu (SAN), submitted that from the face of the charge, no public officer was disclosed on account of whose action, any benefit was offered.
