A group Coalition of Civil Society Group CCSG yesterday urged the judiciary not to relent in its resolve to protect the nation’s democracy.
The admonition by the coalition followed a Federal High Court’s ruling in Abuja, which cleared the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district in the upper chamber, Senator Andy Uba, of an alleged certificate forgery.
Following the judgement, the coalition at a press conference addressed by its President, Etuk Bassey, and Secretary General, Abubakar Ibrahim, said the development though necessary, would also help to put politicians and mischief makers with sinister motives in check.
Bassey, who noted that the judgement also helped to douse the tension surrounding the controversy over the alleged certificate forgery, given the fact that the Anambra State governorship elections was fast approaching.
He said: “The leadership of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups observed that by this judgement.”
