The alleged mastermind of the bombing of a crude oil delivery line belonging to Nigerian Agip Oil Company, NAOC, in Southern Ijaw Local Governemnt Area of Bayelsa State, “Gen” Pastor Oyere has been charged to court. The suspect, an ex-militant leader, was arraigned before a Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, by the Federal Government.

Oyere is charged with unlawful tampering with Agip Pipeline, criminal extortion and illegal oil bunkering. Mr. U.J. Chidozie, who represented the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, told the trial judge, Justice H.A. Nganjiwa, that they were prepared to proceed with the case against the accused. Counsel to the accused, Tekena Ediyekio, however, agreed with the adjourned date of April 25, 2016. The accused was apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in collaboration with a private security firm, Guardian Dragon Oil and Gas Security.

Oyere was allegedly arrested after being lured to Yenagoa from the creek of Southern Ijaw by officials of the private security outfit, Guardian Dragon Oil and Gas Security for a meeting.
