Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN has approved the appointment of Justice O. O. Akeredolu as the new acting Chief Judge (CJ).

Justice Akeredolu’s appointment followed a court ruling that terminated the tenure of former acting CJ, Justice Temitayo Osoba.

Justice Osoba’s appointment faced series of controversies, including petitions by two lawyers to the National Judicial Council (NJC) for his alleged age falsification.

Also, the governor, the NJC and Justice Osoba were sued over Osoba’s appointment as the acting CJ.

At the weekend, Governor Akeredolu approved the appointment of Justice Akeredolu as the new acting CJ to take over from Justice Osoba, who had been in acting capacity since last year.

A statement by the Information Officer in the Ministry of Justice, Mr Kola Adeyanju, said the new acting CJ will be sworn in tomorrow at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office in Akure, the state capital.
