A 52-year-old bus driver, Imeh Eyong, has been arraigned before Magistrate I.O. Raji sitting at the Samuel Ilori Court in the Ogba area of Lagos State for causing the death of a 52-year-old passenger, Onuoha Ikechi, in the Ikeja area of the state.
Eyong was said to be driving in a reckless manner along Charity Bus Stop, Oshodi, on September 8, when he rammed into a tricycle conveying the victim to her destination.
The defendant was also said to be without a valid driving licence.
The police said the offences were punishable under Section 52 of the Transport Sector Reform Law of Lagos State 2018 and Section 7 of the Lagos State Road Traffic Laws of Lagos State 2018.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Raji adjourned the case till November 22 for mention.
